Spatial editing includes the 180 degree rule, which is where you imagine that there is a line going through the room at 180 degrees, the camera person must follow these rules in ordeer to stay on one side. If at any point the camera person wants to change camera angles, they must show the movement accuratley otherwise the film will not look as realistic. Also there has to be at leat 30 degrees between the shots of the same subject, because otherwise the film again wouldnt look as good as it should.
Match on action shot is where you match the camera shot used, to the action that has been played out. Here is an example:
In the two images above, you can see that the camera has used two different types of shots, one of them is a medium close up and the other used is a close up. Both of these images are Match on action shots because the camera has followed round the woman and you can see that when she begins to open the book, the shot that best fits the action is a medium close up, which then follows onto the woman fully opening her book with the camera shot of a close up because that is the shot that best potrays the action.
In my opinion, continuity editing is essential in the process of film making because it is important that the film itself runs as smooth as possible so the audeince can enjoy watching the film, without noticing those little shots that occur in between scenes.
